Our Profile

King’s High School was established in 1990 by Mr. Funso Awomolo, a successful businessman and Philanthropist. King’s High School (KHS) effectively took off with 7 students and 7 members of staff (teaching and non-teaching) on January 1991 with Mr. A.K.O. Ademoyewa as the pioneer principal. Under his administration, the school received approval from Lagos state government to operate as a school.


Dr. E.K Owu (Ph.D.)took over the administration of the school in September, 1996. During his tenure that spanned a total of 14 years, the school became consolidated to open a new chapter in the annals of its history. He fanned the vision of the school into a mission with a long list of achievements and laurels through outstanding performances of students. Specifically, the students’ performances in external examinations were excellent. During his tenure, the school won The OMO N’OBA Erediauwa Coronation Trophy twice for producing the best male candidates in WAEC SSCE in Nigeria in 2004 and 2008. Also, the school produced the student, (Onwunali Augustine) who came 2nd in WAEC SSCE in Nigeria and 2nd Best student in West Africa and received WAEC Excellence Award in Accra, Ghana in the same examination. Propelled by the previous achievement,the school worked hard to produce Maduka David Emmanuel who was the 1st Prize winner in Nigeria in the May/June 2008 WAEC SSCE. A student of the school represented the Lagos State Government in the National Physics Quiz competition in Owerri in 2008 to place the State in the second position. After the departure of Dr. E.K. Owu in 2010, Mrs. D.M.R Achor led the school from 2010 to 2013 from when the present principal, Mr. Olatoye Joseph Olukayode took over.


The school was represented in the 2014 Nigerian Mathematics and Science Olympiads by Master Iko-Ojo Yahaya who won a gold medal and a certificate in senior mathematics category, having emerged the best at the zonal level. The competition was organized by the National Mathematical Centre, Abuja. This trend has been sustained till today. In 2015 the school was represented by master Kponu Iziebsomze Clement who received an award in Physics. Similarly Ndumanya Precious received a plaque, a gold medal and a certificate for coming first in chemistry at the NMC Lagos zone award on 8th of July 2017. Abass Olaife Itunuoluwa came first twice at NTA “Work it out” while in JS 2 and JS 3 in 2014 and 2015 respectively. The same feet was recorded in 2016 by Ohaezu Favour. The results of WAEC SSCE and NECO SSCE with 100% credit pass in English and Mathematics have continued to encourage students, parents and all the stakeholders in education. King’s High School added a feather to its cap when the Lagos State Quality Assurance carried out a 3-day whole School Evaluation in February 2016 and the school was awarded a second grade.


The school has been blessed with good and visionary Boards Who help the proprietor to manage the school. From inception till his death on 9th of February 2004, Chief I.O. Ajijola former Registrar of University of Lagos led the Board. After him, Mr. Samuel Olufemi Agun a retired Director (FME) and former principal Kings College, Lagos led the Board till 22nd April, 2017. At present, the school is being governed by a vibrant re-constituted Board with people of integrity and eminent personalities in education and industry to transform the school’s vision into a mission.
